Waterville, Maine Yvette A. Simpson, 89, died Friday afternoon, June 5, 2009, at Maine General Medical Center, Waterville, after a sudden illness. She was born June 12, 1919, in Winslow, Maine the daughter of Thomas and Bernadette Lemieux Allain. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Roland L. Simpson, and three brothers and one sister, Adrien, Marcel, Paul and Geraldine Allen. She is survived by two sons and one daughter: Paul Simpson and wife, Charline, of Oakland, Michael Simpson and friend, Diane Miller, of East Holden, and Elaine Simpson Lundgren and husband, Dennis, of South Portland. She has six grandchildren, Carrie and Adam Simpson, Kyra Kimball and Audra Buchanan, and Alex and Hillary Lundgren, plus many great grandchildren. Yvette was educated in local schools and attended Winslow High School. She was a hair dresser and owned her own shop in Waterville for many years and was a member of the Waterville Hairdressers Association. Yvette volunteered for many years at Inland Hospital. She was an avid bowler until the age of 88. There will be no public visitation. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 116 Silver St., Waterville at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2009, with the Rev. Bruce Siket officiating. Committal prayers and burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road in Augusta, Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Sacred Heart Soup Kitchen, 70 Pleasant Street, Waterville, Maine 04901.
