Waterville -- Therese G. Sullivan, 78, passed away on Good Friday,Lord's Passion April 18, 2014 with her brother, William and sister-in-law, Lorraine at her side. She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on Sept. 30, 1935, the daughter of William A. and Clemenza Rowlandson Sullivan. Therese started school in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Waterville High School, class of 1953, after family moved to Waterville in 1950. After graduating she started work at AT&T as a telephone operator. She retired in 1989 from NENYX as station assigner. After retirement she worked a few Christmases at the Waterville Post Office, helping sort mail during the Christmas rush. Therese also volunteered at area hospitals testing new borns for deafness, a service provided by the "Pioneers" of the telephone company. She also volunteered helping with books for the blind in Augusta. She is survived by her sister, Modwena Sullivan of Palm Desert, CA; sister Katherine and husband Joseph Duguay of Henderson, NV.; brother, William and wife Lorraine Sullivan of Oakland; sister Janet and husband Richard Dennis of Belgrade Lakes and Saint Petersburg, FL. as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her devoted friend and traveling companion Priscilla Mahew of Winslow. Therese was predeceased by her parents; grandparents; and all her aunts and uncles. The family wishes to thank Noreen Howard, Heather Lint and Brenda Allen for their loving care of Therese during her home stay. Also many thanks to Dr. Knausenberger and the staff on the Alzheimer's Unit at Lakewood Manor for their dignified, compassionate, and loving care afforded to our sister Therese during her stay. Therese was a communicant of Corpus Christi Parish. There will be no viewing at her request. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 70 Pleasant St., Waterville on May 8, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Committal prayers and burial will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove St., Waterville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Therese's memory may be made to Mount Merici Academy, 153 Western Ave., Waterville, ME 04901.
