Waterville -- Theresa J. Mathieu McAllister, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on June 11, 2015. Theresa was born July 29, 1929 to Joseph and Josephine Mathieu in Waterville, where she was raised and lived out her wonderful life. Theresa attended Saint Francis School and graduated from Waterville High School with high honors in 1948. Theresa worked at an insurance company for some time then chose to dedicate all of her time to raising her family. Theresa enjoyed painting and gardening, filling her home with beautiful flowers and works of art. Theresa's most profound enjoyment was being a dedicated and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Theresa is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Francis L. McAllister. Theresa and Francis met in Waterville while Francis was on leave from the Navy. After a long courtship, Theresa and Francis wed Mar. 6, 1954. During their beautiful marriage, they raised two children, Steven and AnnaLisa McAllister. Throughout the 61 years together Theresa and Francis made wonderful memories, creating beautiful collections together. Francis made wood furniture, plaques, and decorations with Theresa painting them. Theresa is survived by Francis; two children, Steven and AnnaLisa; two granddaughters, Emily and Ashley; a great-granddaughter, Adriana; brothers and sisters, Dennis, Margaret, Larry and Lorraine. Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday, June 14, at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Mon. June 15, at Sacred Heart Church, 70 Pleasant St., Waterville. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove St., Waterville.
