CLINTON -- Thelma A. Vashon, 80, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 1, 2011, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville. She was born in Burnham on Oct, 1, 1931, the daughter of Everett and Gladys Viola Allen Houston. She was formerly employed as a certified nursing assistant for several years at Waterville Convalescent Center on Cool Street In Waterville. She was a member of the American Legion Post Ladies Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Ladies Auxiliary, both of Fairfield. She is survived by three sons, Stuart Huff and wife Susan, David Huff and Sherry Dyer, and Mark Huff and companion Jamie, all of Burnham; two daughters, Jacqueline Rowell and husband Marvin of Pittsfield, and Wanda Reynolds of Clinton; two stepsons, Richard Vashon of Oakland and Clifford Vashon of Vassalboro; one sister, Sharon Madore and companion Frank of Pittsfield; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Huff and Barbara Houston; her special friend, Ruth Rollins, of Fairfield; many grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her stepson, Carroll W. Vashon, of Oakland; and her other brothers and sisters, Everett Houston Jr., Amsie Huff, Beverly Young and Grace Ward. Friends and relatives may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. today at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., with Pastor John Ouellette officiating. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Grove Street, Waterville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
