Sidney-Susan "Aunt Sue" Mitchell died unexpectedly yet peacefully on February 8, 2018 in Augusta, Maine at the age of 63.\r\nSue is survived by her father, John "Swisher" Mitchell of Waterville; beloved partner, Bob Asselin and their dog Sidne; siblings, Jane Bolduc, her husband Daniel, Rebecca Brandwein, her husband Lee; nieces Danielle Marquis, her husband Mathew, Rebecca Bolduc, her husband Brandon; nephew, Zachary Brandwein and niece Alizah Brandwein ; great niece Alexis Bolduc and great nephew Mitchell Marquis. She also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles cousins and friends. Sue was predeceased by her mother Prinella Mitchell.\r\nSue was born on July 15, 1954 in Waterville, ME to John and Prinella. She graduated from Waterville High School and went on to Beal College graduating with a degree in paralegal studies. In 1991 Sue was blessed to meet her wonderful partner Bob. They lived in Bob's home town of Manchester NH and began their life together. Over the next 26 years the couple lived and loved life together, enjoying family and friends. \r\nSusan had a wide and varied career, but her real passion was in the halls of the Maine State Legislature. She began her career with the law firm of Doyle & Nelson in Augusta. Susan went on to become a lobbyist, an active participant in the state and national political process and a veteran campaign worker. She worked on several campaigns including Terry Sanford's campaign for President and was a well-known figure at the Maine Legislature. It was Susan's loyalty and generous spirit that defines who she was. For many years Susan was the Political Director for MSEA-SEIU Local 1989. For the past several years, Susan has been the External Affairs Coordinator for Maine Maritime Academy where she was passionate about the students and the mission of the organization. \r\nVisiting hours will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday February 13 at St. Joseph Maronite Catholic Church on Front Street, Waterville ME. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday Feb. 14 also at St. Joseph. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Susan's life.\r\nArrangements are under the direction and care of Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville.
