Susan LeComte

–

Waterville, Maine

WATERVILLE – Susan Ann (Marino) LeComte, 71, passed away peacefully at her home on September 8, 2024, after a long and brave battle against cancer. Born in Rumford on October 16, 1952, she was the cherished daughter of the late Rocco Marino and Margaret (Jalbert) Marino.

Susan attended Rumford High School, graduating with the class of 1970. She furthered her education at the Auburn Maine School of Commerce, where she earned her associate’s degree and met the love of her life, Norman.

During her childhood, Susan delighted in ballet and learning the piano. Throughout high school, she volunteered as a candy striper at the local hospital and enjoyed selling Avon, building a loyal customer base.

Susan and Norman began their family in Auburn before moving to Fairfield in 1989. She had a distinguished career in the medical field, starting with Dr. Michael Rynne Ophthalmology in Lewiston and later at Maine Eye Care Associates of Waterville, where she rose to the position of Supervisor. Her career was cut short by illness, but she left behind many cherished friendships with coworkers and grateful patients.

If she could be anywhere, it would be the coast of Maine. Susan often visited Bar Harbor, which she stated was her favorite place in the world. Summers were spent camping on Mount Desert Island with her children and her dear friend Mary. An avid reader, she eagerly awaited each new Stephen King novel. Susan also had a deep appreciation for the arts, attending theatrical productions and musicals in Portland, Boston, and the Waterville Opera House. She was particularly fond of Maine artists Norman Rockwell and Andrew Wyeth. Above all, Susan’s grandchildren were the light of her life. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with them, watching them grow, or receiving a random call to hear their sweet voices. They will miss her the most.

Susan is survived by her devoted husband, Norman of Waterville; her sons, Brian LeComte and his partner Susan Albert, along with their daughter Gwendolyn of Waterville, and Michael LeComte and his wife Abigail, with their children Caroline and Mason of Windsor, CA. She is also survived by her brother David Marino of Brunswick, ME; brother-in-law Raymond LeComte and his wife Nancy of Williamsburg, VA; sister-in-law Sue St. Pierre and her husband Larry of Auburn; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Rocco and Margaret Marino.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff of nurses and doctors at the Harold Alfond Cancer Center in Augusta. Their sincere care and compassion for Susan were exactly what she needed during her fight. Special thanks also go to all her lifelong friends whose support throughout her illness was invaluable in helping her stay positive and feel loved.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation from 4pm-7pm on October 25, 2024 at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville, ME 04901.
