Waterville Roland Joseph Lachance, 88 died Tuesday Oct. 7th, 2014 at Lakewood after a long illness. He was born in Waterville, Nov. 12th, 1925, the son of Antoine and Josephine Fortin Lachance. Roland graduated eighth grade, then in 2002 he received his High School Degree because of his military service. He worked for the Scott Paper Co. in Winslow for over 42 years, he retired in 1985. He was a member of the Cursillo Movement, the Rosary Makers in Augusta, Veterans of WW11, Sacred Heart League, American Legion in WTVL, VFW in Winslow. Roland is survived by two daughters, Elaine E. Lachance of Augusta and Ms. Jane Pooler of Waterville, a son, Peter Lachance and his fianc, Janice Hamilton of Brunswick. Three brothers Lorenzo of Canaan, Florian Babe of Winslow, Joseph Maurice of Charolette, NC. Four grandsons, one granddaughter, four great grandsons, one great granddaughter, and one great-great granddaughter. Roland is predeceased by his wife of more than 65 years Rose Estelle Theriault Lachance know as Estelle of Waterville, his parents, two sisters Germaine Lachance, Theresa LaPlante, a brother Ferdinand Pete and his daughter-in-law Linda L. Lachance. There will be a visiting hour from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Notre Dame Church, 116 Silver St., Waterville on Sat. Oct. 18th followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Masses may be said for Roland or memorial donations in Roland's name to the Rosary Makers, % Roger Jean, 51 Mount Vernon Ave., Augusta, ME 04330.
