Roland A Giroux, 81, of Waterville, passed peacefully from this world on June 30, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Roland was born in Waterville to Ralph Alphonse and Justine Boudreau Giroux on March 30, 1931. Roland retired after 36 years of service with the Maine Central Railroad and was in the U. S. Naval Reserves for 10 years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Shores Giroux with whom he shared 61 joyous years of marriage. In addition, he is survived by 2 loving and devoted sons and their families, including son Bruce and Long Giroux of Macon, Georgia, granddaughters Heather of Atlanta, GA and Kim of Savannah, GA and son Marc and Cynthia of Corning, NY. Roland also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins, including special niece Paula Lemar, brother-in-law Carroll Shores and "cousin-in-law", Barb Poulin. Roland was a loving and caring husband, father and friend who will be sorely missed. He was pre-deceased by his parents as well as one older brother, Arnold. To honor Roland's wishes and at the request of the family, there will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will take place in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville.
