Robert R. Wellock\r\n1921-2016\r\n\r\nWaterville-Robert R. Wellock, 94, of Waterville, Maine, passed away on April 13, 2016. He was born on December 11, 1921 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the son of the late Robert and Julie Raymond Wellock. He was a veteran who served his country in the armed forces during World War II, with a deployment in China where he worked on military communication systems. Following his military service he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Connecticut at Storrs. His first engineering position was with Kaman Aircraft in Connecticut, where he worked on the development of remote-control unmanned helicopters. Subsequently he was employed by Raytheon Corporation in Bedford, Massachusetts where he was involved in the development of defensive missile systems. Following retirement he and his wife Jean Downie Wellock, moved to Waterville where they were actively engaged as school volunteers. He was predeceased by his wife and by his brother Raymond Wellock. He is survived by his daughter Margaret Yeterian and her husband Edward of Sidney, his son Douglas Wellock and wife Jean of Dallas, Oregon, grandchildren Robert and wife Aiping Ying, Julie Yeterian, and Alexander and Victoria Wellock, and great-granddaughter Carina Yue Yeterian. He is also survived by his "big sister" Ada Lucke of Shelton, Connecticut, several nieces and nephews, and many devoted friends. Arrangements are by Gallant Funeral Home in Waterville.
