Robert F. Pooler 93, died Wednesday at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, Maine. He was born in Waterville, Maine on January 21, 1922 the son of Harry E. and Sadie Pare Pooler. He was educated in local schools and was a 1941 graduate from Waterville High School. Robert was a World War II veteran having served with the U.S. Army 830th Medical Air Evacuation Squadron. He was formerly employed with his father and brother Harriman in the fuel oil business "H.E. Pooler & Sons" which later became "Bob Pooler Fuels". His father, brother and he also established and operated for many years, Grove Street Trailer Court. Robert was also very active in Notre Dame Church and was a longtime member of the financial committee and a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a former member of Notre Dame Credit Union Board of Directors and a member of the Bourque-Lanigan Post American Legion of Waterville and formerly a volunteer with the Waterville Fire Department on Hose 2. He attended daily Mass regularly at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home and the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. Robert loved eating lunch and chatting with friends at the Muskie Center, spending time with his daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Ron Merrill and spending time with his dear friend Olivette Letourneau of Winslow. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Marion, his two brothers Harriman and Orman, his first wife Evelyn Butler and second wife Theresa Gagne. He is survived by his daughter Pamela Merrill and husband Ron of Waterville. Friends may visit with family from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Gallant Funeral Home 10 Elm Street Waterville. A mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Notre Dame Church 116 Silver Street Waterville. Committal prayers and burial will be later this spring in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville.
