Waterville - Richard R. Boutin, 82, passed away peacefully Tues., Apr. 1, 2014 at Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth. Dick was born Jan. 31, 1932, the son of the late Leon and Regina Rancourt Boutin of Fairfield. Dick graduated from Lawrence High School and worked for the Hathaway Shirt Company for 40 years. Dick served proudly as a Master Sergeant in the Army Reserve for 32 years and was a member of the Waterville Lodge of Elks #905. He was a professional musician, playing trumpet with his Dad as a young boy and becoming a member of the Al Corey Band when he was 16. Music was a great love of his and he shared that love, playing many venues including the Ice Capades, college graduations, hotel resorts, weddings, concerts in the park and the R.B. Hall Band to name a few. Dick served on the Board of Directors for the New Dimensions Federal Credit Union for many years. After his retirement, Dick continued to enjoy fishing, hunting and spending cherished time with family and friends. His humor and warmth will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Nannette "Nan" Landry Boutin of 62 years and three daughters, Celeste Grippo of S.C., Cheryle Cassidy and husband John of CT., and Terri Dufour and Don Dufour of Waterville; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Rick; parents, Leon and Regina Boutin; son-in-law, Joe; and by his brother, Arnold. Dick's family wishes to thank the staff at Sedgewood Commons for the wonderful care that he was given over the past two years, as well as Hospice in his final days. Visiting hours will be held from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. Sunday, Apr. 6, 2014 at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 A.M. Monday, Apr. 7, 2014 at Notre Dame Church, 112 Silver St., Waterville. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville.
