Benton-Reginald J. "Mitch" Michaud of Benton passed on to his eternal reward on Monday, August 15, 2016. Mitch was born in Winslow on August 1, 1935, the son of Calixte and Sophronia (Poulin) Michaud. He attended schools in Winslow and graduated from Winslow High School, class of 1953. Following graduation, he was employed by Harris Baking Co. and C.F. Hathaway Co. In 1955, he entered Oblate College and Seminary in Bar Harbor and studied with the Oblate Fathers for four years.\r\nFollowing his studies, he entered the U.S. Army and served as an Operating Room Technician both at Walson Army Hospital and the Fourth Field Army Hospital at Ft. Dix, N.J. It was there that he met his former wife, Julia Jamora of Honolulu, Hawaii, who also served as an Operating Room Technician. They were married in June of 1962 and became parents of four children: Kevin, Katrina, Jason, and Jessica.\r\nUpon completion of his military duties, he gained employment at Waterville Osteopathic Hospital (Inland) as an Operating Room Technician for 12 years following which he was promoted to the role of Director of Materials Management and served 21 years in that capacity, retiring in January of 1996. Following semi-retirement, he became employed at Mary's Place in Clinton, serving as baker and production manager for that restaurant until his full retirement in 1997.\r\nDuring his life on earth, he was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Fairfield where he served in a variety of capacities: C.C.D. teacher, Eucharistic Minister, and lector. He was an active Third Degree member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Council # 11303, Knights of Columbus in Fairfield, where he served as treasurer and head Chef. He served on the Board of Directors of Sunset Home in Waterville. He was a former member of the Clinton Lions Club and the American Legion in Clinton.\r\nHe enjoyed among many hobbies, cake decorating, especially wedding cakes, cooking, gardening, hunting, fishing, camping with family members and friends, and reading.\r\nHe is survived by his four children: Kevin (Betty) Michaud and their children Kiera, Armando, Lorenzo, and Alonzo of China, ME; Katrina Phair and her husband Harold of Lisbon, ME and her children, Erin Sorrell and husband Michael, and Erika and her husband Emmanuel Cutter of Thomaston; Jason Michaud and his children, Noah and Jalyn of Waterville, and Jessica Murphy and her husband Eric of Gray, ME; one great granddaughter, Isabel Sorrell, two great grandsons, Isaiah Sorrell and Liam Michaud, and several nieces and nephews, and his card playing friends, Bill Gordon and Ellen and Collie Moody. He was predeceased by his parents and four brothers: Alfred "Don" Michaud, Bernard Michaud, Robert Michaud, and Kenneth Michaud, and his sister Celina (Thomas) Vintinner.\r\nVisiting hours are 6-8 PM Friday August 26, 2016 at Gallant's Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville.. A Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday August 27, 2016 at St. Joseph's Maronite Catholic Church, Front Street. Intermittent will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville.
