Raymond L. Tingley 76, passed peacefully after a long illness of crippling arthritis and cancer on May 30, 2014, at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home in Waterville. He was born April 12, 1938 in North Vassalboro, Maine the son of Anna Marie Morneau Tingley and George A. Tingley. He was educated in the Vassalboro school system, graduating from 8th grade in 1954. He went to Winslow High School. He worked for Ft. Halifax Packing Co. in Winslow for several years and for his uncle, Morneau Lumber Mill in Waterville and for his father, George A. Tingley Shingle Mill in North Vassalboro. He lived a simple life and loved to go fishing and hunting in his younger days. Despite being crippled, he like helping others. Raymond leaves a brother: George P. Tingley and his wife Ethel of Grambrills, Maryland; three sisters, Yvonne Pelletier of Windsor Locks, Ct., Alice Couture of Benton, and Janine Berton and husband Jerry of Mt. Chase; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and four brother-in-laws, Cecile I. Kiely and husband Joseph, Marie Anna Evans and husband Myron, Shirley A. Williams and husband Charlie, Bernard Couture and son Spencer and grandson Travis. Funeral arrangements are with Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville, Me. where visitation will be held Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 9 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. at Notre Dame Church, 116 Silver Street, Waterville, Me. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove Street, Waterville. Following the services, there will be a reception at Notre Dame Church Hall to celebrate Raymond's life.
