Naples, FL - Ray O'Keefe, 75, a longtime resident of Naples, died on May 8, 2022. Ray was born in Fort Kent, ME, the son of Alice and Ray O'Keefe. He graduated from Winslow High School; received his BA at the University of Maine; and his Master's degree from USC.\r\nHe spent 26 years in the Army and served at Ft. Bragg, Ft. Riley, and Ft. Benning. He also stationed in Vietnam, Korea, and Germany. Ray's last 10 years were spent at the Pentagon. While in the Army, he held many positions from Troop Commander to Squadron Commander to Congressional Advisor to the Chief of Staff of the Army, and during that time, received many awards including the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit and Bronze Star.\r\nRay has always worked hard and played golf with equal passion. For the past few years, he has honored fellow veterans by planning two Veteran's Day tournaments - one at Quail Run Golf Club and one at Royal Palm Golf Club. \r\nHe is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy, and his siblings Pat, Michael, and Bridget.\r\nA Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday June 21, at St. John the Baptist Church, 26 Monument Street, Winslow, Maine 04901. Following the Mass burial will be held at 12 PM in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, Maine 04901.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, donations in Ray's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Support Network, 1421 Pine Ridge Road, Suite 100, Naples, FL 34109.
