Raymond Loubier

–

Winslow, Maine

Winslow-Raymond P. Loubier, 84, of Winslow passed away on September 26, 2026 in the home he built, surrounded by family after a long and determined battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He was born on October 25, 1941, the son of Paul E. and Fernande (Fortin) Loubier. Ray was a 1960 graduate of Winslow High School where he excelled in Industrial Arts and received First Place in the state for his senior project of a grandmother clock which earned him a 4-year machinist apprenticeship at Keyes Fibre Co. in Waterville. A talented woodworker and machinist, he built a 43-year career there through two changes of company ownership, finally retiring in 2003. During that time he furthered his education in machine tooling at the International Correspondence School as well as earning credits at both Thomas College and the University of Maine.

He joined the Air National Guard in 1963 and served 6 years as a jet engine mechanic. He also enjoyed being part of the Winslow Area Jaycees where he served in many roles including as president in 1971-72. Never one to rest, when he wasn’t accepting offers of free wood in exchange for cutting it down, he started his own company, Multi-Craft Products where he produced custom items requiring his machinist savvy

He enjoyed his retirement as an antique car enthusiast restoring corvettes and dabbling in side gigs as a home machinist, sailboat builder, floor monitor at Julia’s auction house, packaging specialist at Winslow Gun Shop, and antique corvette parts dealer travelling often to Corvette Carlisle.

He is survived by his children, Andrea Loubier, and Stephanie Weiss and her husband Carl; his grandchildren Winry and Benjamin Devenport, and Elizabeth, William, and Nicholas Weiss; his nephew Clyde B. Arnold III of Florida, and close cousin Carroll LaFlamme. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Anne Arnold, special aunt Florence Loubier and several cousins.
