Peter John Porciello

Peter John Porciello, 61, of Winslow passed away on Saturday March 22, 2008 at Maine Medical Center in Portland from complications following a pulminary embolism. Peter was born September 30, 1946 in Clinton, Massachusetts. He was a graduate of Clinton High School class of 1964 where he was on the wrestling and football teams. On August 23, 1969 he married Stephanie Gurski of Waterville. Peter earned a business degree from Thomas College. Later he owned Porciello Transport and worked for Digital Equipment Corporation for many years. He retired after becoming disabled. He is survived by mother Mary Porciello, sister Concetta Young, wife Stephanie Porciello, daughter Jasa Porciello, son Ruben Lemelin, mother-in-law Glenys Gurski, brother-in-law John Young, nieces Shanon Dixon, Stacey Gurski, Margot Raffenetti; nephews Paul Gurski, Peter Gurski, Jack Young and Jamie Young, son-in-law Jon Petruschke, daughter-in-law Andrea Lemelin and granddaughter Dinah, as well as many grand nieces and nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his father James Porciello, father-in-law Edward A. Gurski and brother-in-law Edward L. Gurski. Peter passed away while doing what he loved best -- tinkering with motors at Len Poulin's garage in Winslow -- a place where he had slowly and steadily restored old cars, a place where he felt useful. He loved doing favors for others, making great Italian food, playing a little poker, cuddling with a fluffy dog and watching the sun set over resident's beach near his Marco Island vacation house. Peter was a quiet, understated family man who was always there when a need arose. He will forever be remembered for his kindness and generosity to friends and family. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Mar. 27th at St. John the Baptist Church, 47 Monument St. in Winslow. A reception will follow at 12 noon at the Winslow VFW Hall on Veterans Drive.
