Ovila J. LaBreck, 86, of Bassett Road, died unexpectedly Sat. Dec. 6, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Waterville, Aug. 18, 1922, the son of Frank and Deliska Lessard LaBreck. Mr. LaBreck was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He had been employed for both Scott Paper Company and Kimberly Clark for a total of 42 years. He was a supervisor in the shipping dept. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 148 in Waterville. He was a life member of the MacCrilis-Rousseau Post V.F.W. in Winslow and a member of the Bourque-Lanigan Post American Legion in Waterville. He loved fishing, playing cards, family get-togethers, knitting, gardening, mowing lawns, woodworking and building homes in the area. He also enjoyed the Muskie Center activities. He is survived by his sons and their wives, Mike LaBreck and Patricia of Lewiston, Patrick LaBreck and Gayla of Vassalboro, Douglas Arbo of Falmouth, Greg Arbo and Cathy of Berwick, and Dale Arbo and Loretta of Waverly Hall, Georgia; four daughters and their husbands, Arlene McLaughlin and John of Vassalboro, Cynthia Wahl and David of Waterville, Barbara French and Fred of Oakland, and Tina Bourassa and Andrew of Winslow; two brothers and their wives, Francis LaBreck and Sandra of Winslow and Joseph LaBreck and Faye of Waterville; a sister, Julie Richards of Winslow; a half-sister, Mildred Rodriquez of Calif.; also Theresa, Wilfred and Shirley; a sister-in-law, Leone LaBreck of Winslow; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Annette Michaud LaBreck who died Aug. 22, 2001; a brother, Larry LaBreck; and by his parents. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Church, 26 Monument St., Winslow. Burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Grove St., Waterville. There will be no hours of visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the American Lung Assoc. of Maine, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330. Arrangements are with the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville.
