Norman P. Rancourt Obituary (1931 - 2005)

Waterville Norman P. Rancourt, 74, of Seton Village, died early Sat. Sept. 3, 2005 at Inland Hospital in Waterville. He was born in Waterville, Mar. 5, 1931 the son of Leo and Marie Roy Rancourt. He attended Waterville schools and received his GED. . Norman was formerly employed at Gallant Funeral Home as a funeral attendant and ambulance attendant for about 40 years. He was also employed by State Furniture , Bouffard Furniture, Rossignol Dairy and Drapeau's and until his death he was employed by Central Maine Motors. At one time he was owner of Pizza by Norm. He was Past President and member of the former League of Sacred Heart at Notre Dame Church. He was Landfill Manager for the City of Waterville for several years. He was a goal judge at Colby College Hockey games for over 50 years. He was an avid sports fan, expecially the ''Red Sox''. He was on the City Council for Ward 7 in the South End for several years. He was a member of Waterville Council #148 Knights of Columbus and also fourth degree Assembly. He had been a lector at Notre Dame Church for many years. He was predeceased y a son, James Rancourt, brothers, James, Jerome and Robert Rancourt. He is survived by his daughter, Theresa Glidden of Fairfield; brothers, Everett Rancourt of Providence, RI and Eugene Rancourt and wife Beatrice of Fairfield; sisters, Muriel Vear of Waterville and Anne Veilleux and husband Gerald of Michigan; two grandchildren, Tiffany Glidden of Oakland and Tony Glidden of Fairfield; one great granddaughter, Kali; step-son, Derek Saucier; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers, 93 Silver St., Waterville, ME 04901.
