Maynard Libby of Pleasantview Ridge Road in China went to be with our Lord July 14, 2010 at the age of 90. He was born in Winslow Aug. 12, 1919 the son of Joseph Albert and Jeanette Michaud Libby. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946. He was a devoted patriot and always flew a flag in the front yard of every place he lived. He was a co-owner of Libby Store on Bay St. in Winslow with his father and mother for many years. He worked for 26 years in the Wyndotte Woolen Milla as a machinest. He also worked at Togus Veterans Hospital as a medical aide for 18 years. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family. He was a member of Bourque-Lanigan Post #5 American Legion in Waterville, MacCrillis-Rousseau Post V.F.W. in Winslow, and was a lifetime member and third degree of the Knights of Columbus 148. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Glenita ''Jenny'' Stevens Libby; one son, Keith Libby and wife Sandra of Belgrade; one daughter, Sharon Farris and husband Nelson Farris of China; five grandchildren, John Proulx and wife Michelle of Hampton, VA, Beth Waceken and husband Dan of Vassalboro, Eric Libby of Brewer, Libby Furrow of Vassalboro, Lilly-Ann Bickford and husband Dwayne of Belgrade; five great-grandchildren, Chad and Abby Waceken, Bradley and Nathan Bickford and James Furrow; many special nieces, nephews, friends, and step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father and mother; sister, Beulah Gerald; brother, George Delford Libby; two special cousins and hunting and fishing buddies, Bernard and Donald Michaud; and a daughter-in-law, Cecile Fortin Libby. ''Home is the sailor...home from the sea...and the hunter home from the hill.'' In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to a favorite charity of one's choice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tues. July 20, 2010 at St. Bridget's in Winslow. Committal prayers with Military Honors will be at 12 noon Wed. July 21, in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 163 Mount Vernon Rd., Augusta. There will be no hours of visitation. Arrangements are with the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville.
