Maurine Marie Champagne, 78, of Fairfield, passed away Sat., Aug. 11, 2012 at Maplecrest Rehab. And Living Center in Madison after a long illness. She was born in Waterville, June 9, 1934, the daughter of Harvey and Violet Rancourt Dostie whom she loved very much. Maurine had worked at a cotton woolen mill and at C.F. Hathaway Shirt Co. for several years. Most recently she worked at Mount St. Joseph. She enjoyed playing cards, family gatherings in the summers, being with her grandchildren, and preparing meals during the holidays. She was passionate about being around The Sisters and workers at Mount St. Joseph. She also enjoyed flower gardening and canning vegetables with her husband Richard in their earlier years. When Maurine got sick of hearing stories about wood and deer, she would let us know it was time to talk about something else. Maurine loved her family, four wheeling, running the wood splitter and riding in the yellow truck. She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Richard Champagne, Jr.; and by a brother, David Dostie. She is survived by her husband, Richard Champagne of Fairfield; two sons, Gary Champagne of Skowhegan and Steven Champagne of Fairfield; three brothers, Ricky of Sidney, Vincent of Fairfield, and Billy of Waterville; three sisters, Connie of Skowhegan, Pauline of Fairfield, and Zilda of Gardiner; grandchildren, Shannon, Aaron, Shawn, Danielle, Dakota, Makita, Jessie, Josie, Tatonka, Jerico, Jasper, Journey and Justice; and by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Sat., August 18, 2012 at Sacred Heart Church, 70 Pleasant St., Waterville. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove St., Waterville.
