Mary Ellen LaVerdiere WATERVILLE -- Mary Ellen LaVerdiere of Waterville passed away March 13 at the Thayer Unit of MaineGeneral Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was born March 1, 1924, the daughter of Bernard and Margaret Tully. She was a Waterville High School graduate. On Oct. 7, 1943, she married C. Clayton LaVerdiere. They were married for 63 years before Clayton passed away in 2006. For the last three years, she has resided at Mount St. Joseph's Nursing Home. Mary owned and operated Mary's Ceramics for several years, teaching and selling porcelain and ceramics. Mary enjoyed traveling with Clayton to Disneyland, Quebec, and Amish country in Pennsylvania. She was a devoted wife and mother, and a loving Nammie to 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Michele LaVerdiere of Kennebunk, Susan Bannister and husband Do, of Florida, Thomas LaVerdiere and wife Gina of Gardiner, Charles LaVerdiere and wife Brenda of Wilton, Mary Littlefield of Waterville, Mark LaVerdiere of Skowhegan, Ann West and husband, Richard of Florida, and Kathy Worcester and husband Ed of Waterville. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Mount St. Joseph's as well as the CCU and second floor staff at MaineGeneral Medical Center for her excellent care. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Gallant Funeral Home on Elm Street in Waterville. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church on Pleasant Street in Waterville.
