Waterville Marie was born in Van Buren, Maine on September 15, 1928; the daughter of the late Thomas and Emilie Ruest Tardif. Marie was a free-spirit person who enjoyed her loving family. Her favorite hobbies were playing Bingo with family and friends; spending time with many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren playing cards and board games. Marie especially loved her weekend trips to the coast with her family. She loved to cook her favorite homemade soups which she gave away to many family , friends, and neighbors. Marie had a strong will to live her life in a very simplistic way. She was a person who enjoyed her home for quiet times. Marie was a home maker most of her life. She was employed for few years at Seton and Thayer Hospital's in the housekeeping department. Marie was predeceased by her brothers, Edward, Gerald, Edgar, Wilfred, Amie, Joseph Tardif and sisters, Lillian Beaulieu and Madeline Carey. She is survived by her husband Kenneth of 63 years and 5 children, Raymond Couture and wife Pamela of Winslow, ME; Richard Couture and wife Sandra of Sheridan, WY; Donald Couture and wife Barbara Couture of Winslow, ME; Cathy Simpson of Wilmington, NC; and Cheryl Rood and husband Duane of Albion, ME; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Isola Tardif and several nieces and nephews. Marie's family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Clifton Smith and Claire LeClair, RN ; Health Reach Home Care and Hospice nurse Michelle Mercier, RN; Debra Roberts, Erica Pierce, Lori Martin, Maine General Health 3 North nursing staff and Bunny Brier, RN for all the excellent care, support and kindness during her illness. A celebration of her life will be celebrated at 11 am Tues., August 23, 2011 at Notre Dame Church , 112 Silver Street, Waterville, Maine. In lieu of flowers donations in Marie's memory may be made to Heath Reach Home Care & Hospice, 10 Water St., Waterville, ME 04901.
