Lucille Emma Bourassa Obituary (1923 - 2005)

Winslow Lucille Emma Bourassa, 82, died Wed., Oct. 12, 2005 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with heart disease and cancer. She was born in Winslow, June 26, 1923, a daughter of Donat and Lucy Dostie Bourassa. She was educated in Winslow Schools and was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in North Vassalboro. Upon her mother's death in 1939, she made the decision at 16 years of age to stay at home and care for the family with her Dad. The six youngest children were given much love, care, attention and guidance with her help and those of the oldest brothers and sister. She later finished high school and became a licensed beautician doing her apprenticeship in her aunt's beauty shop in Waterville. Some of her favorite pastimes were crocheting, needlepoint, oil painting, gardening, listening to music, walking around the track at Colby College; with her brothers and friends, and traveling around the coast of Maine was especially to her liking. Lucille was an excellent cook and homemaker. The holidays were celebrated to the fullest; and enjoyed by all family members and friends. She was a kind, gentle, religious, loving person. We will forever miss her. She is survived by bothers and sisters, Donald Bourassa of Augusta, Leo, Frank, Ralph Bourassa and wife Brenda, Yvette Jackie Bourassa all of Winslow and Irma Munro of Waterville; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Bourassa of Winslow, Giselle Bourassa of Lewiston; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers and sisters, Annette Thurlow, Ernest, Lawrence, Carl, Richard, Rena, and Mona Bourassa. There will be no hours of visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tues., Oct. 18, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Main St., North Vassalboro with the Rev. Joseph Cahill officiating. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Grove St., Waterville.
