Winslow Linda f. Beckerman Lohman, 55, of 18 Corbett Lane, Winslow died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tues., Feb. 21, 2006 at MaineGeneral Med. Ctr., Thayer Unit in Waterville after a courageous two-year battle with acute leukemia. She will be dearly missed by her close family and many close friends. Born in Waterville July 2, 1950, Linda was the beloved daughter of Marcia D. Beckerman and Dr. Stanley C. Beckerman deceased. A 1968 graduate of Waterville High School and a 1972 graduate of University of Maine at Orono, Linda received her B.S. degree in Elementary Education and also received a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from William Paterson College. She taught second grade at the elementary school in Pittsfield, ME for one year before marrying her high school sweetheart and love of her life Mark D. Lohman May 5, 1973. Mark's career took them to N.J. for 12 years where she was a popular nursery school teacher. Thereafter, they settled in Winslow and Linda continued to teach nursery school from 1985 until the birth of their child Drew Lohman in 1989. She then spent many hours volunteering at the Winslow Elementary School Library. Linda's passions were Mark and Drew and her beloved mother and bridge partner, Marcia Beckerman as well as her many close and supportive friends, neighbors, family and her dog Jasper and Licorice prior to Jasper. Linda was an avid bridge player and enjoyed immensely her wonderful bridge group friends, including those wonderful members of the Waterville and Fairfield duplicate bridge groups at which she teamed up with her mother Marcia for many many enjoyable and successful afternoon tournaments. She also enjoyed skiing and traveling with Mark and Drew. She was a past board member of the Waterville Inside Outside Playground, and a past member of the Waterville Area Newcomers Club. Linda is survived by her beloved husband of 32 years, Mark D. Lohman, her boyfriend for seven years prior to marriage; her beloved son Drew Lohman; her mother Marcia D. Beckerman of Waterville; her brother and sister-in-law Peter and Joan Beckerman of Sidney; her special niece Joy Beckerman Maher of Edmonds, WA.; her brother Scott Beckerman and his wife Tracy of Raymond; her step-sister Lynne Kerschner and her husband Jim of Oakland; her step-sister Pam Evans of Holland, MI.; her mother-in-law and husband Ruth Lohman and Cyril VanSickle of Palmetto, FL.; her sister-in-law and husband Diane and John Mirick of Princeton, MA; her brother-in-law Fred and Alison Lohman of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and her brother-in-law and wife Steve and Joanne Lohman of Jackson, WY.; her step-mother Lucille Beckerman of Oakland; as well as their families and her many wonderful aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and their families. She was predeceased by her father Dr. Stanley C. Beckerman in 1992. Linda and her family wish to thank Drs. Andrew Hertler and Ariel Anguiano and all of the other Thayer Unit most caring, compassionate, and competent doctors and nursing staff whom Linda referred to as ''her angels'' of Third-Floor North as well as all of the caring support staff and dietary staff who so incredibly assisted and supported her, along with all of her wonderful supportive family and friends throughout this most tragic ordeal which Linda faced with amazing spirit, grace, and inspirational courage and strength, finding a way to smile and be positive and strong even in the toughest of times. She fought with all she had and never gave up hope. Her strength and will to live and appreciation of life were and are an inspiration to all she touched. Visiting hours are 1-4p.m. and 6-8:30 p.m. Fri., Feb. 24, at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. A celebration of Linda's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sun., Feb. 26 at Good Will-Hinkley School Chapel, Route 201 Hinkley Rd., Hinkley, ME.
