Waterville Lillian Berube 82 of Waterville passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by her children after suffering with a lot of pain for a year, especially the last weeks of her life. She was born in Lewiston Sept. 8, 1928 the daughter of Joseph and Laura Carpenter Veilleux. She married Joseph Luke Berube Jan. 12, 1961. He was the love of her life. He was a great husband, father and friend. they spent many summers at their camp on Webber Pond then later on Sibley Pond in Canaan. She loved spending time with her sister, Violet. They spent many evenings with their families by the camp fire. When we were young, she used to dress up as Santa Claus and dress us children up as Elves and take us to area nursing homes to deliver gift bags of candy and oranges to the residents for Christmas. She loved making people happy. Lillian was a very kind and compassionate woman. She always put others needs ahead of her own. She loved spending time with her children and beloved companion Pepe. Before she stopped driving, she loved volunteering at Lakewood Manor, sitting and praying with people who were alone and dying. She felt that no one should die alone. She enjoyed saying the Rosary. Her faith was very strong. She was a devote Catholic. She spent the last five weeks of her life celebrating her life and her faith with her family. She wanted to have a going away party because she knew she was dying. It was a beautiful experience watching her come to terms with dying. We spent many days and nights laughing and crying. We enjoyed many meals together telling stories and laughing. She was a very strong willed person who believed in miracles. She was an avid Bingo player. She enjoyed crocheting and crafts. She loved peanut butter fudge. Lillian was quite a character. Everyone who met and knew her loved her. She had quite a sense of humor. You never knew what she was going to say or do. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; infant daughter, Peggy Lee; brothers, Arthur Albert and Richard Vigue; and a sister, Gloria Dawe. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend.
