Lee "Red" Socquet

–

Vassalboro, ME

Vassalboro- Lee F. Socquet Sr. 79, of Vassalboro, passed away April 27, 2024. Lee
was a fixture in his community. He could drive just about anything and probably did at
some point during his illustrious driving career. A born worker, he was raised on farms.
He was a public servant for almost thirty years, caretaker of the landfill, bus driver, and
road crew for public works. You could find him at Freddie’s Garage, talking all about
vehicles. People called him “Red” most of the time, sporting his big red beard, which
eventually faded to white in that classic Santa Claus look. And he was a talker! Teller of
tales about all manner of adventures, he left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
Devoted to his family, loyal to his friends. He is predeceased by his wife of fifty-three
years, Cheryl, and his son Gary Socquet. He leaves behind his loving children, Katrina
and husband Keven, Peter and wife Liana, Angela and Lee Jr. and partner John; his
beloved grandchildren, Autumn, Sonja, Kayla, Nicholas, Braden, Jesse, Julia, and
Thomas; his delightful great-grandchildren, Olivia, Naveyah, Braylyn, and Kashton.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street,
