Kenneth Francis Chase of Sidney passed away unexpectedly Wednesday May 2, 2012 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with his family by his side. Ken was born in Springfield, Mass on March 15, 1932. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1949 and proudly served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged from the service 1952. He married the former Waneta Ethel Light in 1955, and started a family. He was employed as a poultry farm manager for several years starting work in Swansville in 1967, then continued work in Albion, Belfast, Poland and in 2000, he retired to Sidney. In Sidney, he was a member of the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department where he was chief from 1970 until 1973. Ken was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Waneta Ethel Light Chase in 1994, a daughter Faylene Murphy, a grandson Lee Allen Chambers, Jr. and a great-grandson Dartagnon Chambers. He is survived by his daughter, Rose Chase and partner Lomer Pelletier of Sidney, a son Charles Chase and his partner Mary Hare of Belmont and children Ashley, Matt and Ryan Chase. A daughter April and husband Arthur Tillson of Gardiner and children Brittany, Michael and Courtney Trepanier. A son Kevin Chase of Sidney and his daughter Autumn. A son, Keith Chase and wife Billie Jean of Waterville and children, Adam, Billy, Andy, Alyssa, Kate and Tyler. 2 great-granddaughters Leah and Annie of Belfast; A grandson Adam Chambers and daughter Elizabeth and granddaughter Tammy Chambers of Massachusetts and children, Chris, Cassidy and Owen. Also brother-in-laws, Earlon Light and Elwood Light and son-in-law Lee Chambers, Sr. and sister-in-law Cheryl Light. Ken was well known for his smile and being a friend to everyone. He will be missed by many. Military honors and committal prayers will be held Wednesday May 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Maine Veterans Cemetery Chapel Mount Vernon Road Augusta, Maine.
