Sidney Joseph Alphie Pelletier, 87, of Middle Road in Sidney, died Nov. 17, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Eagle Lake, Aug. 14, 1922, son of Alfred and Lucille '' Luce'' Viel Pelletier. He and his late wife Rita Vashon Pelletier were married June 11, 1943. Mrs. Pelletier passed away June 16, 2009 after 66 years of marriage. Mr. Pelletier was a proud and active resident of Sidney since 1976. He retired from Scott Paper after 39 and a half years on July 6, 1982. He was currently employed at the Transfer Station in Sidney. He enjoyed deer hunting and got his last deer the day before his death. He was a dedicated member of the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament, MacCrillis-Rousseau Post VFW in Winslow, and was a communicant of Notre Dame Church in Waterville. He enjoyed hunting and playing Santa Clause at daughters and sons-in-law's Christmas display in Sidney. Mr. Pelletier was also predeceased by his parents; two sons, Joseph Pelletier Jr. and Paul Pelletier; three brothers, Norman Levasseur, Albenie and Jean Pelletier; three sisters, Gertrude Pelletier Mixer, Eva Clowery and Nathlie Pelletier. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Lagasse and partner Jerry Perrier of Oakland and Lucille Phillips and husband Bruce of Sidney; brother, Emmuel Pelletier of CT.; sister, Anna Pelletier Mixer of Bangor; grandchildren, Linda Anderson & husband Norman of Winslow, Carol Fenderson and husband Glenn of Winsor Mills, MD., Tina Garrow and Paul Pelletier both of Waterville; step grandsons and their wives, David and Debra Phillips of Sidney, and Michael and Lisa Phillips of Brooksville, FL.; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sat., Nov. 21, 2009 and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 at the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Mon., Nov. 23, 2009 at Notre Dame Church, 112 Silver St., Waterville. Committal prayers and military honors will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Grove St., Waterville.
