Waterville - Joseph Emedio Marchetti, 92 years old, passed away on May 6, 2016\r\nat his home with his family around him. He was born in Waterville on March\r\n7, 1924, the son of Ralph and Florence (Ivers) Marchetti. He was educated\r\nin Waterville schools and graduated from Waterville High School, Class of\r\n1942. Following graduation he was drafted, in February 1943. He served in\r\nthe 322nd Engineer Battalion. He served in Okinawa and honorably discharged\r\nin February 1946. On June 6, 1953, he married Marlene Gregoire. Joe was a\r\ngolfer and played till he was too ill. He was a great fan of swing era\r\nmusic, particularly Glenn Miller, and loved to dance. He also loved going\r\nto Boothbay Harbor and Cabbage Island and played semi-pro basketball for\r\nthe Waterville Buicks. Joe is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Dorothea and brother, Ralph, Jr., and his son Joseph Peter. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marlene; sons, Michael (Stephanie) and Timothy (Melissa); his grandchildren, Lisa Marchetti (Kelly Dyer), Amy West (Ryan), Brian Marchetti (Shonna), Nikki and Vincent Marchetti, Zachary (Brigette), Andrew and Henry Marchetti; also, great grandchildren, Cody, Curtis and Cassandra Martin, Mackenzie West, Kayleigh Marchetti and Theron Marchetti; cousins, Marlene (Anthony) Jabar, Charles (Mary) Hurd and niece, Sarah Hahn. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed for his stories and sense of humor.\r\n\r\nVisiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at\r\nGallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial\r\nwill be held at 11:00am, Thursday May 12 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 116\r\nSilver Street, Waterville.
