Winslow, Maine Joan L. Quirion Young 89, passed away peacefully at her home on April 7 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Winslow, Maine on April 16, 1923 the daughter of Josephat and Matilda Ferland Quirion. She was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Winslow High School. She was employed at C.F. Hathaway Shirt Co. for over 30 years. She was also a volunteer at Meals on Wheels and Maine General Medical Center for over 20 years. She was predeceased by her parents, a son Raymond and two brothers, Norman and Donald Quirion. She is survived by her husband, Raymond and her four children, Jean Poulin and husband Robert of Vassalboro, Paula Fundaro of Rhode Island, Bernard Young of Waterville and Carole Klaiber and husband Paul of Rhode Island. She has 10 grandchildren who loved her dearly, Stephanie, Chad and Brent Poulin, Jeremy, Danielle and Nicholas Klaiber, Salina Young, Michael, Michelle Boudreau and Kevin Paradis. She is also survived by two sisters, Laurette Quirion and Wilma Carey and nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Michelle Dixon and Jessie Mosher. They will never know what their loving care of our mother meant to us and it will never be forgotten. They will remain in our hearts always. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to St. John Regional Catholic School 15 S. Garand Street Winslow, Maine 04901. There will be no public visiting hours per Joan's request. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church Monument Street Winslow, Maine. Committal prayers will be recited at church and burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery Grove Street Waterville, Maine.
