James Pinney Wood

Waterville, Maine -- James Pinney Wood, 85 of Waterville, died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, Maine. He was born in Stafford Spring, Ct on November 20, 1928, the son of John and Gertrude Pinney Wood. James attended the University of Connecticut and was a member of the United States Army. He retired as Superintendent of Anglo Fabric Company. James had a love for Golfing and was a member of the Natanis Golf Club in Vassalboro, ME. He enjoyed his trips to Myrtle Beach and Florida. James was an avid reader and sports fan. He enjoyed family gatherings. He was a former member of the Lions Club in CT. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Amey; and daughter, Catherine Wood. James is survived by four sons and their wives, James C. and Linda Wood of Fairfield, ME, John A. Wood of Hancock, ME, Stephen Wood of Waterville, ME and Douglas E. and Lyn Wood of Winslow, ME; two daughters and their husbands, Diane E. and Ronald Perkins of Stratton, ME, and Leslie R. and Frank Soares of China, ME; brother and wife, Norris T. and Carlese Wood of Somers, CT; sister, Betty Moreno of Farmington, CT; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. Thurs., Jan. 2, 2014 at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville, ME. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Sat., Jan. 4, 2014 at the Somerville Congregational Church in Somers, CT. Burial will be in West Cemetery in Somers, CT.
