Jacqueline Annette Michaud Ronan, 83, of Winslow passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2003 at Woodlands Memory Care Center in Waterville. She was born January 17, 1930 in Waterville, the daughter of Mary Anne Lagasse of Daigle and Frank X. Michaud of Waterville. She graduated cum laude in 1948 from Waterville High School, where she was a cheerleader. She took commercial and business courses in the 1960's and continuing education courses in shorthand and bookkeeping at Thomas College in 1988. She married Lawrence "Mike" Ronan on May 30, 1949 at Sacred Heart Church in Waterville with the Rev. Albert Long officiating. She was employed at Butler's Department Store during high school; at Lester Jolovitz's office as a legal secretary following high school; as a medical assistant to Dr. Samson Fisher, Drs. Laurier Nolin and Murrill Szucs, Drs. Marshall Gerrie and Albert Amalfitano, Dr. Richard Dole, and Dr. Edward Southard; and as a secretary to Dr. Cheryl Vermette, DMD. Mrs. Ronan was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post #8835. She enjoyed playing the piano; swimming; ice skating; camping, and traveling to Aruba, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and Florida. In recent years, she enjoyed attending her high school class reunions. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lawrence "Mike" Ronan of Winslow; a son, David M. Ronan and wife Suzanne of Oakland; a son, Gary T. Ronan and partner Binh Tran of Plainville, MA; granddaughters, Cheri Ronan of Oakland, Amanda Ronan and husband Christopher Specht of Austin, TX; and Bethany and David Rowbottom of South Portland; a grandson, Jonathan Ronan and fiance Alyza and children of Waterville; cousin Karen Lucid and husband Tim of CT; and several relatives in Bangor, Machias, Aroostook County, Lewiston/Auburn, and Forida. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank X. and Mary Anne Lagasse Michaud; in-laws, Gordon and Bernice Ronan; grandparents; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to June Marshall for her years of special care at home, the staff and caregivers at Woodlands Memory Care, and Dr. Knausenberger and staff. Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Church, 26 Monument Street, Winslow. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove Street, Waterville.
