Waterville-Harriett U. Ouellette, 85 of Oakland and most recently a resident of Mount St. Joseph Holistic Care Community passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 11, 2012 following a brief period of declining health. Harriett was born in Milo on July 28, 1926; She was the only child of Theodore and Blendine Carey. During Harriett's early years she worked as a telephone operator for both Bell Telephone and New England Telephone while passionately raising her two children as a single mom. Harriett later met and married Vern Henry Ouellette who passed away in October 1975. Harriett continued to reside in the home that she and Vern built on Messalonskee Lake. She thoroughly enjoyed watching the seasons change lakeside and frequently remark " I wouldn't have it any other way" A devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, she will be missed and remembered by all for the kindness, love and humor which she expressed with every passing moment. Harriett is survived by her daughter, Susan E. Dubuc and her husband, Ron of Leeds; son Brian R. West and his wife Loren of Winslow; grandchildren, Jeff West and his wife Bridget of Winslow, Craig Judd and his wife Cochise of Kingston, NH. , Lea West and her fianc Steven Baird of Waterville, Karrie Breton and her husband Jeff of Waterville, step granddaughter Aimee Brown and husband Josh of Livermore; great grandchildren, Nick and Emily West, Kalub and Emma Judd, step granddaughters, Baylee and Sophia Brown. Special recognition is given to Harriett's close friends Nancy, Ken and Sue Hines of Oakland. Harriett is predeceased by her grandson, Corey Judd. Per Harriett's request there will be no visiting hours and a private service will be held at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville with burial to follow.
