Gertrude "Trudy" C. King, 87, died Mar. 19, 2013 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville. She was born Jan. 21, 1926 in Milo the daughter of Alfred and Gertrude Downs Cook. She was a 1945 graduate of Milo High School and a 1947 graduate Westbook Junior College with an Associate Degree. She worked at the State House for Inland fisheries and Game as a secretary from 1947 to 1954. She married Frank King in 1954. They had two daughters, Andrea and Leslie. She worked at Colby College as a secretary to director of Student Activities from 1969 to 1989 when she retired. Mrs. King went on over 30 cruises to Caribbean Islands and Bermuda. She and Frank enjoyed taking their two grandsons, Troy and Kyle Irvine on many of those cruises and other vacations. Her grandsons were very special to her and she attended every track meet. She loved animals so very much and had many cats and dogs over the years. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Helen Cook Bucknam; mother-in-law, Mabel King;and son-in-law, David Whyte. She is survived by her husband, Frank King of Waterville; two daughters, Andrea Whyte and significant other Brad Sherwood of Waterville and Leslie Pelletier and husband Mark of Winslow; sister-in-law, Marcelle Nardi of Waterville; sister and brother-in-law, Jeannine and John Viens of Augusta; two grandsons, Troy and Kyle Irvine of Waterville; and by several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Sat., Mar. 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Lorimer Chapel at Colby College. Burial will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta at a later date.
