Jerry was born in Winslow, Maine on June 28th, 1943, the only child of Doris Saint Amand and Gerald Saint Amand. He attended Winslow public schools, graduating from Thomas College in 1967.

In 1966 Gerald created and worked at the New England Sports Enterprises, as the editor of the boxing newsgrams for five years. Beginning in 1975 he began his career at Ware-Butler as a credit account manager, wherein he created numerous working relationships with community members and local businesses. Alongside his time at Ware-Butler, in 1986 he became the president of the Central Maine Striders, a state-wide running club of which he was already a very active member. Throughout his time with the club he directed numerous marathons and runs such as the Colby 5 Mile Classic, Sentinel 10K Classic, and Pine Tree Marathon.

Around 1993 he created the UU Coffeehouse, a chance for the community to hear acoustic and folk artists in an intimate setting. His wife Ruth was often the whiz in the kitchen creating assorted baked goods for attendees to enjoy. He spent almost every Sunday morning at the Waterville Universalist Unitarian Church where he was an integral part of the community and involved in many projects focused on bettering the accessibility of the church grounds.

His involvement in his community did not stop there as he became a Winslow town council member in 2000, for 15 years he attended monthly meetings, actively learned about town budgets and helped to make decisions that benefited the town and its people.
In the early 2000’s he also became a DJ on the Colby College radio station WMHB 89.7 where he enjoyed sharing his love of the 40s, 50s and 60s music alongside acoustic and folk musicians tracks. Throughout his years volunteering was an integral part of his life, shown by becoming an honoree of the Spirit of America for his work with the Hospice in 2017. Gerald was the President of the Hospice Volunteers of Waterville from 2015 until 2018.

His family was always his top priority, made clear by years of Sunday night family dinners and always answering the phone. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Ruth and together they visited many parts of the United States and beyond. Jerry will be remembered for his thoughtful demeanor, his ability to create community, a great love of music, many jokes and his warm smile.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth E. Saint Amand, his two daughters, Lisa Jamison and TerryAnn Towers Saint Amand, his two granddaughters Samantha Jamison and Tessa Saint Towers and leaves behind many cherished relatives and friends.
