Florence J. Leighton

Winslow Florence Jameison Leighton, 102, of Meadow View Lane, died Mon., Jan. 07, 2008 at MaineGeneral Med. Ctr. Thayer Unit in Waterville. She was born in Edmundton, N.B., Canada May 5, 1905, the daughter of Frederick and Evelyne Hayward Jameison. Mrs. Leighton graduated from Dennysville High School and from Machias College. She taught school for several years. She was a member of Dennysville River Grange, Congregational Church, and the Eastern Star. She was predeceased by her husband, Leigh S. Leighton who died in 1978; her parents; two brothers, Walter and Milan Jameison. She is survived by her children, Marjorie E. Leighton of Winslow and Walter and Ruth Leighton of Pembroke; special nephew, Milan Jameison, Jr.; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Burial will be in Dennysville Cemetery, Road in Washington County in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Pine Tree Camp for Crippled Children and Adults, 149 Front St., P.O. Box 518, Bath, ME 04530. Arrangements are with the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville.
