Evelyn I. Cayford, 92, of Winslow died Oct. 22, 2011 at Mount St. Joseph in Waterville. She was born in Belgrade Lakes, Mar. 19, 1919 the daughter of Clyde and Edna French Dalton. She counted chickens and inoculated them for many years at Lipmann Poultry Co. She was a lifetime member of the Winslow Auxiliary VFW. Mrs. Cayford enjoyed camping, traveling, family get-togethers, cooking bean hole beans and lending a helping hand to family members. She was predeceased by her parents; husband of ten years Everett Fortin; husband Ivan Leo Cayford whom she married Aug. of 1946 and he died Sept. 25, 1995; four brothers and sisters; and one grandchild of Deland, FL. She is survived by sons and daughters and their spouses, Terry and Sharon Fortin of Sidney, Linda and Bill Nivison, Vance and Karen Cayford and Charles Cayford all of Winslow, Janet and Richard Lary of Clinton, and Brenda Mosser of Winston- Salem, N.C.; a brother, Arnold Dalton of Salisbury, MA.; two sisters, Irene Furbush of North Belgrade and Dorothy Jenness of Clovis, CA.; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend thank you to the Memory Lane at Mount St. Joseph. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Sat., Oct. 29, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Church, 26 Monument St., Winslow. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Mon., Oct. 31, 2011 in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Evelyn's name may be made to Memory Lane, Mount St. Joseph, 7 Highwood Ave., Waterville, ME 04901.
