Winslow - Eugene W. Michaud, 87 of Winslow unexpectedly left us to join his beloved wife Theresa on Jan. 11, 2014. He was a current resident of Lakewood Manor Nursing Home in Waterville. He was born on April 13, 1926 in Old Town, Maine to Anthony and Mary Michaud. He was raised by his foster parents, Isadore and Delia Toulouse in Fairfield Center, Maine. Eugene graduated from Lawrence High School, where he had interrupted his senior year to serve with the United States Army in Europe during WWII. He attained the rank of Corporal with the 975th Field Artillery Battalion, serving in Italy, France and Austria. When he returned home, he finished high school and then went on to earn a business degree from Thomas College in Waterville, Maine. Upon graduation he continued to work at First National Stores for 37 years until they went out of business. He then started his second career working for the State of Maine in the Liquor and Lottery division where he worked for 25 years until he retired. He married the love of his life, Theresa Guerette Michaud at St. Francis Church in Waterville on July 4th, 1961. Together they had three children while living on Merryfield Ave. in Waterville, before moving and settling in Winslow in 1976. Gene was a very kind man who always had a good word for everyone he met. In his high school years he was a member of the Lawrence High School Band where he played the trombone. He was also a member of the Glee Club and was an accomplished dancer. He played the piano and whenever he had the opportunity he would play some of his favorite songs from the 30's and 40's. Gene and Theresa enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. They also traveled frequently while enjoying their retirement. He was predeceased by his wife Theresa, his parents, and his siblings Wilfred, Phillip, Florence and Daisy. Gene is survived by his three children Dan Michaud and his wife Jean Finley of North Vassalboro, Lisa Michaud and her husband John Levesque of Vassalboro, and Jeff Michaud of Wiscasset; his grandchildren, Shane McCausland of Benton, Nikia Levesque of Vassalboro, Noah Michaud of Brunswick, Josh and Dustin Levesque of Winslow, Patrick Finley of Cambridge, MA., and Mallory Finley of Brighton, MA.; and by several nieces and nephews. There will be visitation at 10 A.M. on Saturday Feb. 15, at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street in Waterville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist 26 Monument St., Winslow at 11 A.M.. Burial will be in the spring at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville. The family would like to thank the staff at Lakewood Manor in Waterville for their care while Eugene was a resident.
