Dorothy Genest Allen

Winslow, Maine Dorothy Genest Allen 86 of Meadowview Lane died unexpectedly Friday August 8, 2008 at MaineGeneral Medical Center-Thayer Unit in Waterville, Maine. She was born in Waterville, Maine on May 9, 1922 the daughter of Albert R. and Albertine Bourque Genest. Mrs. Allen graduated from Waterville High School and worked for LaVerdiere's Super Drug Stores for over 40 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow. She was predeceased by her husband, Marcel J. Allen who died in 1990., her parents, her four brothers: Vincent, Emile, Earl and Raymond and three sisters: Lucille LaCroix, Constance and Beulah Genest. She is survived by her children: Timothy J. and wife Elizabeth and grandsons Matthew and Peter Allen of North Reading,Mass.; Connie M. Allen Ziko and husband Joseph and granddaughters Rachel and Margaret Ziko of Coventry,Conn. 1 brother: Arthur Genest of Oakland, Maine and 6 sisters: Priscilla Drapeau of Winslow, Maine, Opal Cayford of Skowhegan, Maine, Gloria Hoffman of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, Barbara Hoffman of Meza, Arizona, Anne Swears of Waterville, Maine and Marie Turner of Meriden,Conn. also by several nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. There will be no public visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Wednesday August 13, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Church 47 Monument Street Winslow, Maine. with committal prayers and burial at the Maine Veterans Cemetery Civic Center Drive Augusta, Maine. Memorial donations in her memory can be made to St. John' Catholic School 15 South Garand Street Winslow, Maine 04901 Arrangements are with the Gallant Funeral Home 10 Elm Street Waterville, Maine.
