Doris 'Dot' Marie Landry slipped away quietly on Tuesday April 24th 2012 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville with family by her side after many years of ongoing illness. She was born in Waterville on March 2nd, 1932 the oldest of three children born to Leopold Lacombe and Marie Veilleux and lived there all of her life. Dot attended Waterville schools and graduated from Waterville High School in 1949. She worked as a Telephone Operator for several years before she met and married her husband Charles Landry, the love of her life, in April of 1958. The couple just celebrated 54 years of marriage. After having two children Sharon and Chuck, Dot worked in various shops in the Waterville area including Flo's Greenhouse, Alvina & Delia, Pauline's and Michaud's Jewelers. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and children and made several trips to Las Vegas. She was a wonderful cook and shared her cooking skills with friends and families. Dot was best known for her knitting skills. Countless infants and adults alike have been fortunate enough to own a sweater, hat or scarf made especially for them by Dot. Over the past few years she has contributed mittens to support CMP's Mitten Drive as a remembrance to her son Chuck. She was generous and good hearted and had that special spunk in her personality that friends and family will remember always as 'Dot'. The family would like to offer their special thanks to the nursing staff on 3rd floor North at MaineGeneral Medical Center Thayer Campus and also to those individuals with HealthReach Hospice who attended to her with such care. She is survived by her husband Charles 'Charlie' Landry of Waterville, a daughter Sharon Dyke of Portland, a grandson Jarrod Dyke of North Quincy, Mass., brother Leopold Lacombe and his wife Stella of Waterville, brother Robert Lacombe and his wife Linda of Lakeland, FL and several nieces and nephews.
