Darrell Alan Prescott, aged 69, died peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2013. Darrell, born January 8, 1944, in Waterville, Maine, to Thornton and Edna Hebert Prescott, was one of four children. His son Joseph sadly pre-deceased him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela; his much-loved children Jeffrey and Janet, his wonderful grandchildren Rebecca, Elizabeth, Joseph, and Abbey, his brothers Dale, David, and Dana, and many other extended family members. Darrell spent his life making pizza, first for Whipper's Pizza, then buying the Waterville branch of this business. He outgrew the tiny place on 197 Main Street, later purchasing a closed gas station across the street. With the help of family and friends, he renovated this into a much larger restaurant, taking the opportunity to rename it Darrell'a Pizza. Being his own boss was meant to be. He spent about forty years serving the public, as well as giving his customers a hard time whenever possible. Darrell Prescott was a great lover of many things, other than his wonderful family and friends. One of his favorite spots to be was on the water, whether cruising around Great Pond in his pontoon boat or sailing on his Prindle catamaran. Darrell was a fisherman who enjoyed exploring Maine's lakes and throwing back nearly everything he caught so that it might grow bigger. He was a hunter of ducks and deer, and a poker player who truly enjoyed Wednesday nights. An active man who loved playing as much as making pizza, Darrell was an avid racquetball player, a temperamental golfer and a lifelong hockey player. The Bruins never had a more loyal fan. He will be greatly missed by all of the friends and family from each area of his life. Visiting hours will be held at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville on Wednesday October 30th, from 2:00 4:00 PM and 6:00 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at the same location on Thursday, October 31st at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. Circumstances permitting, a short graveside service will follow, then a gathering at the home of Darrell and Pam.
