Carmen Ida Lessard Jurdak
1927 - 2017
Waterville-Carmen Ida Lessard Jurdak passed from her earthly life on Sunday, March 5, 2017. She was the daughter of Arthur and Anna Lessard, born on February 11, 1927, living her entire life in Waterville, Maine. As a little girl, she was selected to be one of the "Angels" in the Christmas Pageant at Notre Dame Church where she wore wings and a halo. From that point forward she would continue wearing those wings and halo. She was a care-giver for her mother at a very young age, her husband, Ed for over 68 years, their 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, extended family members, friends, and neighbors. Carmen also had another passion, working in her flower garden. She was known as the "Rose Lady" as she spent many years tending to her beautiful roses and flowers. Her roses were given with love to her daughters, daughters-in-law, and granddaughters to use in their bridal bouquets and flower arrangement on their wedding days.
Predeceased by her parents, and two brothers, Camille and Lucien Lessard. Carmen is survived by her loving husband, Edward George Jurdak, Jr., (married July 5, 1948); her son and daughter-in-law, George and Kathy Jurdak; her daughters, Carol Ezhaya, and Donna Jurdak-Roy and son-in-law, Peter Roy. Her seven grandchildren, Melissa Giguere and husband Jeff, Brian Jurdak and wife Linda, Paul Ezhaya and wife Jessica, Daniel Jurdak-Roy and wife Jamie, Amy Ezhaya, Arielle Jurdak-Roy and husband John, and Lucas Jurdak-Roy, She also enjoyed spending time with her 6 great grandchildren, Xander and Isabelle Giguere, Ava and Benjamin Jurdak, Brady and Jaxon Jurdak-Roy.
She is also survived by her 3 brothers, Leopaul and wife, Eilene Lessard, John Lessard, and Robert Lessard; several sister and brothers-in-laws, along with many nieces and nephews. Carmen lived her life full of vigor and selflessly always caring and helping other along her journey. She earned her heavenly "angel wings" by the way she lived.
Carmen's last wish was to be home and comfortable. Her family members were able to fulfill her wish with their care, the compassionate help of Kelly Nadeau, and Hospice nurses, Kathy Roy and Jan Taylor. A heartfelt "Thank you" to sister-in-law, Sandra, neighbors, Lucy and Marie.
There will be a gathering in the spring at the time of her burial. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville. An online guestbook may be signed and condolences expressed at www.gallantfh.com
