Our Lord beckoned our dear mother, Blanche, to Himself on the evening of Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, after her children and her sister had surrounded her with their love and support in the last days of her final illness. She was born on Dec. 15, 1921, in St. Martin, County Beauce, Canada the daughter of Alphonse LaPointe and Rose Anna Poulin. The family moved to Waterville in 1922 and Blanche attended Waterville and Winslow schools. She later worked in the Winslow/Waterville area and at C.F. Hathaway. She married Frederick Moen of Benton in June of 1946 and they later raised their three children. They eventually built, owned and operated Fred's Diner on the China Road in Winslow for about 23 years until their retirement. Blanche was an extremely good cook, as was her husband. She was a life-time member of the Winslow V.F.W. Ladies' Auxiliary Post #8835. Blanche, a lovely, fun-loving and caring person, always had a warm smile for everyone. She related easily to people and they to her. She had a special way with children. She enjoyed dealing in collectibles, liked beano for many years and was lucky at beano and cribbage. We will remember her love and faithfulness as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend, her commitment to her Catholic Faith and her sincere warmth and honesty. She is survived by her three children, James Moen and wife Claire of Oakland, Charles Moen and wife Shirley of Madison and a daughter, Pauline Moen; four grandchildren, Heidi Whitney and husband Dave of Waterboro, Christina Moen of Waterville, Jennifer Verville and husband Ken of Tennessee and Mathew Moen and his fiance Brittany of So.
