Blanche B. Cyr Obituary (1910 - 2008)

Waterville Blanche B. Cyr, 97 of Waterville, formerly of North Ave., Skowhegan, died peacefully early Thurs. morning, Feb. 14, 2008 at Lakewood Continuing Care Center on Kennedy Memorial Drive. Blanche was born July 4, 1910, in St. Agatha, the daughter of Honore and Clara Plourd Bouchard. She married Edgar Ralph Cyr on Aug. 15, 1930 in Skowhegan. They made their home in Waterville for most of their 53 years of marriage. After Edgar retired, they moved to Skowhegan. When her husband died in 1983, Blanche moved into her family home and lived with her sister, Viola Bouchard, until she moved to Waterville in 2006. She had been a resident at Lakewood for a year and a half. Although Mrs. Cyr had been employed at Emery Brown and Alvina and Delia for short stints, her most important ''career'' in life was being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She and Edgar had four sons and one daughter. They were the love of her life and she was always very proud of all of them. Nothing pleased her more than a visit from them or the birth of yet another grandchild. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Henry Ferne Cyr and her children, Deborah and her husband, Danny Hilliard, Steve and Robert and his wife, Leigh. Her daughter, Diane and her husband, Julian Bechard. Their sons, John and his wife Dorcas, Mark, and Matthew and his wife Karyn. Son, Ralph E. Cyr and his wife Annette and their daughter Linda Cyr; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica and her husband Marc Belanger and Christina and her husband Chad Helms, Katy and Ellie Bechard, Lindsey and Courtney Cyr; her great- grandson, Luke and his mother Pennie Bechard, and Noah Matthew Bechard; two great-great-grandchildren, Alexis Helms and Aiden Belanger; another great-great-granddaughter is expected in June; and by several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased two infant sons, Peter and Charles; her oldest son, Henry; two grandsons, 1st Lt. Ralph A. Cyr and Christopher Julian Bechard; her siblings, Lottie and Louis Bouchard and Theresa Richard. The family wishes to thank the dedicated employees at Lakewood, especially the CNA's whom she appreciated and grew to love. She know them all by name and enjoyed hearing about their families. She enjoyed visiting the chapel after lunch everyday and appreciated the spiritual support she received from Eucharistic Ministers from the Corpus Christi Parish. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Mon. Feb. 18th at Notre Dame Church, 116 Silver St., Waterville. Although there will be no visiting hours before the funeral, the family invites friends and family to join them in celebrating Blanche's life at a luncheon which will be served in the church after the celebration of the Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the charities of their choice. Arrangements are with the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville.
