Beverly M. (Hood) Rogers, born Oct. 7, 1931, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 7th at the Maine Veteran's Home in Augusta, Maine. Beverly was the eldest child of Gladys and Vernal Hood Sr. She is predeceased by her husband Paul S. Rogers, both her parents, and her sister Janice (Hood) Dyer. She is survived by her brother Vernal Hood Jr., Sandra (Hood) Poulliot and her husband Ronald, and her brother Ronald Hood and his wife Annette, her children; Stephen and his wife Pat, Sandra, and her fiance Bill Annis, Scott, and his wife Sherry, four Grandchildren, eight Greatgrandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.\r\n\r\n\tBeverly was a graduate of Waterville High School class of "49." She was a homemaker until her husband Paul retired from the Army in 1975, and then worked in retail for a number of years. She and her family lived in Winslow, Waterville, Ft. Devens Massachusetts, Columbia South Carolina, Athens Ohio, and finally Ft. Dix New Jersey. As a military family Beverly and her children were exposed to numerous social, ethnic, and racial groups and it was common to find a house full of the children's friends at the Rogers home at all hours of the day and night. She made an impression on everyone who knew her, in fact, one of Stephens friends walked over five miles in 83-degree heat to give her a going away gift when they were leaving Ft. Dix. Beverly enjoyed playing board games and card games, especially Rummy...she was the family champion at that game. She was an avid reader all her life and passed that gift on to her children, as all three kids love to read. Beverly loved animals and always had pets. She collected knick knacks and one of her favorites was frogs. Her shelves were full of them. She was a long-time member of the Second Baptist Church in Waterville and attended the North Vassalboro Baptist Church frequently. She and Paul enjoyed doing their devotions each morning with their coffee, before reading the paper. Beverly never met a person that did not become a friend and we know that she now walks with her best friend Jesus!\r\n\r\n\tVisitation for Beverly will be held on Tuesday, July 19th from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 - 8:00pm, at Gallant Funeral Home in Waterville. Her funeral will be held at the North Vassalboro Baptist Church at 10:00am, the Reverend Stephen P Rogers presiding. There will be a small reception following the service.
