Waterville- Bernard T. Bishop 85 died Friday morning, Oct. 25, 2013 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville. He was born in Fairfield, Oct. 23, 1928 the son of Thomas and Margaret Ware Bishop. He was a graduate of Lawrence High School and attended mortuary school at New England Institute of Anatomy in Boston, MA. He was Dairy Dept. Manager at A&P for 12 years. Bernie worked at Met Life for 12 1/2 years. He was owner of Bernie's Market for five years. He was manager of Laverdiere's Drug Store for 12 1/2 years. Bernie worked as an apprentice for one year at Gallant Funeral Home. He was the owner of Kennebec Graphics until his retirement. He enjoyed his flower garden in his backyard; was an avid reader of novels; enjoyed sitting on his front porch talking with neighbors; and enjoyed family gatherings. He loved his summer home on North Pond. He especially loved his later years with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They had a special celebration of their 65th wedding anniversary at his grandson's wedding with a renewal of their vows. He was a former member of Council 148 Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society in Fairfield. He was predeceased by his parents and by a sister, Theresa Davis. Bernie is survived by his wife, Albertine "Tina" York Bishop of Waterville; a son, James Bishop of Skowhegan; two daughters, Cathy Bishop Cusson of CT. and Debbie Palmer of Waterville; a brother, Lawrence Bishop of Fairfield; a sister, Gloria Bishop of Waterville; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M.
