With sadness in our hearts, we share with you the death of our "ma tante" Bern at the great old age of 92. She died peacefully in her sleep as she wanted after a long illness. Bernadette was born in Waterville on May 30, 1921 the daughter of Odessa and Marie Pellerin Turgeon. She attended local schools and worked all her adult life at C.F Hathaway Shirt Co. In 1956, she married Roger Hachey who passed away in 1996 when he and Bern were living at Seton Village, the place she called home for many years. Bern loved to play cards and make crossword puzzles at which she was pretty good. She had close friends at Seton Village, and enjoyed their visits right to the end of her life; loyalty was one of her gifts. She belonged to the Daughters of Isabella, the Rosary Sodality and at one time, was the president of the Ladies Guild of Notre Dame Church. Because Bern was a person of Christian faith at her core, she witnessed to the great truth that although pain is often a given , misery is chosen. Bern had much pain in her life of one kind or another, but she never chose to be miserable. She always kept a positive attitude about life through many ups and downs and always had a ready smile to share with those around her. She received Holy Communion and was one with her Lord to the very end of her life here on earth. So, for all those reasons, we will miss her greatly but find our consolation in that her suffering is now ended and she has found her place in the Father's house with those who have gone before us especially her parents, husband Roger , her brother Gene, her sisters Rose, Alice and Florence. Bernadette is survived by two nephews, four nieces, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and several cousins. A special thanks to the Rehab dept. of Mount St. Joseph and the Assisted Living dept. of Woodland Center for their great and compassionate care of Bern and also a great thanks to Hospice for being with Bern and us in her last days. At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday July 27, 2013 at Notre Dame Church 112 Silver Street Waterville. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery at the family plot. Arrangements were made through Gallant Funeral Home 10 Elm Street Waterville.
