Alice Emily (Tingley) Couture, 80, of Benton, ME, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2022, in the care of MaineGeneral Health (MGH) Hospital staff, Augusta, ME, due to long term health issues.Alice was born on December 12, 1941, in North Vassalboro, the daughter of George A. and Anna Marie (Morneau) Tingley. She married the love of her life, Bernard N. Couture, on May 28, 1960, at Saint John the Baptist Church in Winslow. Alice and Bernard moved from their small apartment in Winslow to Vassalboro in 1965 where they raised their family of five children. Alice, with her husband Bernard, were devoted to Saint Bridget's Catholic Church in Vassalboro, assisting with Mass, fundraisers, and teaching Religious classes. Alice was a devoted housewife who loved gardening, camping, snowmobiling, family gatherings, going out to eat and holidays.Alice is survived by four children, Caroline Smith and husband Robert of Winslow, Steven Couture of Waterville, Bernard E. Couture of Virginia, and Brenda Hawke and husband David of Augusta. She is also survived by her sister Yvonne Pelletier of CT; grandchildren, Moriah Wood and husband Trey, Danielle Smith, Michaela Smith, Maila Blood and husband Don, Edward Couture, Nathan Devoe and wife Christie, Sarah Devoe, Ryan Devoe, Amy Devoe and fiance Sky Lonsdale; 3 great grandchildren Keelyn VanGordon, Billy Joe Wood IV (little Joe), Silas Lonsdale; as well as many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.Alice was predeceased by her parents George and Anna Marie Tingley, husband Bernard N. Couture; son Spencer and grandson Travis; siblings, Cecile Kiley, George Tingley, Marie Evans, Raymond Tingley, and Shirley Williams.Our deepest thanks to the staff of the Maine Veterans Home, MGH, and Dr. David Preston for the wonderful care and support they provided.Committal prayers and burial will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, November 17 at the Saint Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove Street, Waterville, ME.
