Adrienne B. Douin Obituary (1910 - 2009)

Winslow Adrienne B. Dube Doin, 99, of Winslow passed away peacefully with her devoted daughter, loving family and caregiver at Mount St. Joseph Nov. 17, 2009 after a short stay with HealthReach Hospice. Her favorite saying was ''I love them all''. Adrienne was born in Waterville May 10, 1910 the daughter of Rudolph and Minnie Vashon Dube. She attended local schools and worked at the Hathaway Shirt Factory until she married her late husband Arthur L. Douin Jr. in 1933. She then moved with him to Augusta until 1950when they moved back to the Waterville area. She helped her husband wallpaper and paint interior and exterior houses. They built a camp together at Webber Pondwith some help from family and friends. She was a woman way ahead of her time, a jack of all treade and she wasn't afraid of hard work nor using a hammer or screwdriver. In 1980 she moved to Ft. Halifax Common apts. and resided there up until Oct. 11, 2009. What motivated her to live independently with the help of one daughter, Judy, her husband Bernard and within the past six months Helping Hands was her determination and strong will to stay in her apartment. She was a devote Catholic, her faith sustained her and her trust in God that He would take care of her and He did keep her going. She was a powerful prayerful warrior, her stongest weapon was her rosary which she prayed daily for her family, friends, those in need and especially her beloved ones religious and the church. She belonged to the Rosary Crusade at St. John's. The highlight of her life was her family which she loved dearly, and was proud of. She enjoyed simplicity in her life. She was predeceased by her husband; many family members and friends. In recent years her greatest loss was her granddaughter Debbie Bolduc-Burke and a great grandson Jordan M. Brochu. She is survived by her sons, Roland ''Joe'' Douin of Winslow; Paul and his wife Pat; her daughter, Juliette ''Judy'' and husband Bernard Bolduc; gandsons, Alan and David and wife Marylou; granddaughter, Suzanne and husband Daniel Brochu; great granddaughters, Sadie and Aaron Brochu, April Crider and husband Paul, Amanda Bolduc-Burke, Ruth Ann Bolduc Burke, Jessica and Jennifer Douin; great-great-granddaughters, Kalie Brochu and Ashley Crider. Her family wishes to thank the many care providers, Helping Hands, Mount St. Joseph, HealthReach Hospice, Maine Medical Center 2nd floor and Emergency Room, and primary doctor, Edmund Ervin. A Mass to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. Sat., Nov. 21, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Church, 26 Monument St., Winslow. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to St. John Catholic School, 15 S. Garand St., Winslow, ME 04901 or to Servants of the Blessed Sacrament, 101 Silver St., Waterville, ME 04901.
